Braunschweig and Frankfurt

A group of SITA Braunschweig volunteers took a day out to help a local organization run a football tournament.

In August 2016, a group of SITA staff from our Frankfurt office headed out to the SOS Kinderdorf allotment for day of weeding, watering and general garden tidying. SITA Frankfurt is an active supporter of SOS Kinderdorf, part of the SOS Children’s Villages worldwide organization. We contribute to their work for children with difficult family backgrounds to help them get a better start in life.

Женева

Two of our Geneva employees proudly wore their SITA VIVA volunteer colors at the Geneva Harmony Marathon “Genevoise” race on a sunny Saturday in May 2016. They raised 1460 CHF (US$1,500) for UNICEF. A big thank you to the many SITA and SITAONAIR staff who sponsored them and encouraged them along the way.

Around 50 SITA staff helped to celebrate International Women's Day in Geneva on 8 March 2016. Taking their lead from the Pink Paper Plane Challenge™ led by the Institute for Women in Aviation Worldwide, people took the opportunity to help try and set a Guinness world record for creating paper airplanes in a 15-minute time frame. The group made a total of 526 planes and enjoyed a bite to eat.

On 10 June 2016 a group of 22 SITA Letterkenny employees plus a colleague from our partner NIIT undertook a 10-hour bag pack in Tesco Letterkenny to raise funds for Special Olympics Ireland. Our team raised 1540 EUR (US$1720) to help support and nurture people with an intellectual disability.

SITA Letterkenny held a coffee and cake morning in March 2016 to support the Children in Crossfire foundation. Thanks to the generosity of all the SITA staff who joined in, a grand total of 480 EUR (US$545) went to a wonderful cause, giving children in conflict a chance for a better future.

In September our London Gate office once again played host to The World's Biggest Coffee Morning  and raised more than £505 (US$620) for Macmillan Cancer Support.

SITA London held World Kidney Day activities in 2016 that helped raise awareness about kidney health as well as funds for local charities. SITA London staff joined in a silent auction run by Southampton Children's Hospital Kidney Awareness Fund for a pair of guest list tickets to see Coldplay at Wembley Stadium which raised 450GBP (US$650). Our London office also hosted a sellout bake stall with the West London Kidney Patients Association that raised 280GBP (US$400).

Париж

In partnership with leukemia charity "Laurette Fugain", the Paris VIVA team organized a collection of toys and donations for children spending Christmas at the hospital.

SITA Paris organized a fundraising treasure hunt in the summer to support “Accueil et Culture” which promotes the education and integration of culturally diverse inhabitants in the Parisian suburbs. An extended team from our Paris office – grown-ups and kids alike – had good fun. They strolled the streets of the French capital, learning useful historical facts along the way and raising US$240 (215 EUR) in all.

For the second year in a row, our Paris VIVA team helped out with a Theatre Night for the LA CAMI sport & Cancer charity. The event featured professional dancers performing a contemporary ballet along with nonprofessionals who have been touched by cancer. This year 16 Paris staff took part in staffing the event, while other SITA staff contributed cakes and treats to sell at the concession. They raised 2900 EUR (US$3,250) for La Cami's sports program for people with cancer and their families.

Прага

Our Prague office held a blood donation event in May 2016 in cooperation with business park neighbors CA Technologies. Forty people from both companies took part, donating about 20 liters of blood in total. A big thank you to everyone who contributed.

Following the devastating earthquake in central Italy in August 2016, SITA Rome launched a fundraiser and quickly collected 300 EUR (US$340). The money has been donated to the Italian Red Cross who, together with the Italian Civil Protection Department and Save the Children, have been working in the field since the quake to provide disaster relief to the affected population.

Fourteen of our Rome colleagues registered for the 17th edition of “Race for the Cure di Roma", part of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series. Race for the Cure is the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer ever created. The 2016 Rome 5K run and walk events attracted over 63000 participants. Well done, SITA Rome, for taking part and raising 250 EUR (US$280) towards a cure.
