Every minute, 40 bags get mishandled worldwide. In 2017, that amounted to more than 22.7 million mishandled bags, costing the air transport industry US$2.3 billion.
More often than not, these bags go astray during the transfer process. By providing real-time information on baggage status, SITA BagManager cuts mishandled transfer rates by 20%, providing positive return on investment (ROI) from Day 1.
BagTrac is a new option for airlines challenged with meeting the requirements of IATA Resolution 753. BagTrac addresses the key area of arrivals and transfer baggage tracking. Automatic tag readers (ATRs) are installed over passenger claim belts and transfer induction belts where they record tag numbers as bags pass the ATRs. The tracking data gathered allows BagManager to monitor arrival baggage and record first and last bag times and forward the data to an airline or BagJourney for long term storage.
Suitable for airports, airlines and ground handlers, it provides industry-leading functionalities for loading, reconciling, tracking, tracing, and managing baggage operations. It’s also available through SITA’s ATI Cloud, providing quick implementation with no server equipment requirements onsite.
All of this from a single supplier – it’s no wonder SITA BagManager is installed in over 200 airports worldwide.
Implementation of SITA’s baggage technology will minimize
disruption and provide better service to [our] passengers.
