Community solutions

SITA works with many industry associations, governments and customer groups to develop innovative solutions to community-wide issues.

Part of SITA’s role in providing value to the air transport industry (ATI) is to explore new technologies with potential benefit to the entire community.

We also ensure that IT systems work together by establishing:

  • Common approaches, shared infrastructure and cost-effective use of technologies
  • Standards
  • Recommended practices across airlines, airports and government agencies

Increasing demand for information sharing, coupled with increasing dependency on online systems, make collaboration essential. Our know-how spearheads common-use technologies, in addition to hosted solutions and open IT standards.

SITA's community solutions

Aircraft operations

  • A joint venture between SITA and the Irish Government
  • Contract with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to establish and operate the International Registry of Mobile Assets for the benefit of users
  • As part of the implementation process for The Cape Town Convention, the Secretary General of ICAO issued a global public tender in January 2004 for an organization to establish the International Registry of Mobile Assets
  • Aviareto, based in Dublin, was selected for the undertaking
  • The success of Aviareto has led to a recent initiative to set up a similar capability for rail called the International Rail Registry

e-Aircraft program

  • SITAONAIR is delivering a 'nose-to-tail' value proposition for the air transport industry as it transitions to 'connected aircraft'
  • This program will help airlines, air framers, manufacturers and equipment suppliers with the transformation
  • Created around four services areas – passenger, crew, cockpit, and aircraft health and maintenance – SITAONAIR's nose-to-tail approach marks a first in the air transport community in bridging these fragmented areas, bringing them into a coherent and modular portfolio
  • With a community remit, and a neutral position at the center of the industry, SITAONAIR is uniquely positioned to help the industry take the steps
  • This involves bringing stakeholders together and acting as data broker to avoid ownership issues
